LINDERA mobility analysis improves fall prevention in care, as the AOK study shows.
Health promotion in old age is closely linked to mobility promotion. Falls and their consequences are the biggest obstacle to active and self-determined ageing.
The LINDERA mobility analysis app has been proven to help minimize the risk of falls - as shown by a 20-month evaluation in cooperation with AOK Baden-Württemberg and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 16 care facilities.
The results show a significant reduction in the risk of falling, an improvement in gait speed and a clear reduction in fear of falling among senior citizens.
The WHO confirms: Falls are one of the most common causes of injury in old age. Up to 42% of people over the age of 70 fall every year, sometimes with serious consequences.
The LINDERA mobility analysis app uses artificial intelligence and is based on the expert standard, seamlessly integrated into existing care documentation systems.
Convincing study results The evaluation included 566 mobility analyses over 20 months (09/2019 to 05/2021).
The results were independent of the composition of the group, which also included 43% dementia patients and 76% aid users.
"The figures show the enormous potential of AI solutions in the healthcare sector, both for the quality of life of senior citizens and for efficiency in care facilities,"
emphasizes Diana Heinrichs, CEO and co-founder of LINDERA.
Jutta Ommer-Hohl, AOK Baden-Württemberg, adds:
"The results prove that modern, self-learning tools not only prevent falls, but actively promote mobility."
In view of the global coronavirus pandemic and the associated social isolation of senior citizens, a constant trend in the number of falls and their consequences would have been a success for the project, according to the researchers from Charité-Universitätsmedizin in Berlin who evaluated the project.
The results of the evaluation now reflect the fact that the decrease in fear of falling, the reduction in the degree of falls and acceptance among care staff is accompanied by an increase in the quality of life of the residents and a benefit for the care staff.
Simple and precise The LINDERA mobility analysis app, which is CE-certified as a medical device, determines the risk of falls using a smartphone or tablet.
The LINDERA mobility analysis app determines the individual risk of falling simply and precisely using an app on a smartphone or tablet. The supporting procedure is based on the expert standard for fall prevention.
The 3D movement for determining the gait pattern is determined with the help of artificial intelligence. Using a video recording of approx. 30 seconds and a questionnaire, our patented algorithms determine the individual risk on a scale of 0 to 100. Various aids such as rollators or walking sticks are permitted.
The resulting analysis provides personalized recommendations for fall prevention and maintaining mobility in old age. Repeated use allows development progressions to be displayed and systems to be developed in order to work specifically on maintaining mobility and preventing falls in older people.
The LINDERA mobility analysis app can be integrated into leading documentation systems and supports care staff in the systematic prevention of falls and promotion of mobility.
