Fall prevention via app: scientifically sound data for greater safety

Today, we presented our latest innovation in the field of fall prevention on the Charité campus. With a sample of N = 617, we provide precise, scientifically sound findings on fall prediction. Our digital traffic light clearly shows who is on green, yellow or red - and therefore who has an increased risk of falling and should be given preventative support.

Real data instead of synthetic models

The first question from the audience - from the University of Bochum: Does LINDERA work with synthetic data?

Our answer: A clear NO.

As a medical device manufacturer, we rely exclusively on real, clinically validated data - in accordance with the GDPR. We have been working closely with the Geriatrics research group at Charité since 2017 and have published numerous joint studies. Our analyses are based on real movement and health data to enable reliable and precise fall prediction. Scientific validation is our top priority - for safe and effective use in care.

The elephant in the room: DiPA - digital care applications

In addition to the latest research findings, a pressing political issue was also discussed at the conference: DiPA - the Digital Care Applications. While there are already 68 DiGAs (digital health applications), there are exactly 0 DiPAs.

Christine Vogler, President of the German Nursing Council, put it in a nutshell in her keynote speech:

"Either DiPA is not wanted or not done - both are not possible."

It is high time that digital solutions for care were given the same status as digital health applications (DiGA). The technology is there - now we need fair approval procedures in accordance with applicable law to bring DiPAs into care.

A milestone for care? The Nursing Council is putting pressure on

And tomorrow? The German Nursing Council publishes an eight-page position paper - a kind of copy & paste for the coalition agreement. Now it's up to politicians to clear the way for DiPAs. Fingers crossed for the future of digital care!

Science meets practice - for safe fall prevention

LINDERA shows at the 7th Charité Cluster Conference how science-based AI-supported fall prevention works. With real data, validated methods and close collaboration with researchers, we are setting new standards in mobility analysis. But the best technology can only be effective if it is also used in care.

Thanks to Nils Lahmann & the Charité team!
